Assistant Instructor Course

If you are on the diving professional track, this class is the one you would take right after Divemaster before you go to your IDC (Instructor Development Course.) This course is actually the first half of the IDC, so the texts and skills you get from this course apply to the IDC.
As a PADI AI, you are a dive educator who can assist with, organize, and supervise knowledge development, confined water, and open water activities. AI's work in partnership with Instructors to provide student divers with quality knowledge and skill development during PADI programs. The teaching skills that you will develop during your training allows you to independently conduct several PADI programs, and with further training, you can qualify to teach non-diving specialty courses, as well as the EFR program!
Prerequisites to qualify for training as a PADI Assistant Instructor:
- PADI Divemaster certification, or leadership level certification with another recreational diver training organization.
- Be at least 18 years old and have been a certified diver for at least six months
- Have 60 logged dives. These dives must include night, deep and navigation dives
- Proof of CPR training within the last 24 months
- Be fit for diving and submit a Medical Statement for a diving medical examination conducted within the past 12 months. This form must be signed by a physician and state that the candidate is fit for diving.
- Submit documentation of any qualifying certifications for entry-level, advanced, rescue, and leadership-level issued by another recreational diver training organization. If NOT a PADI divemaster, succesfully complete the PADI Divemaster course rescue skills assesment.
