Open Water Diver
The Adventure of Diving begins here!
If you've ever wanted to learn to scuba dive, this class is for you! This class is tailored to the beginner and we work with you all the way! Our classes are designed to make you comfortable, safe, and confident underwater. Because of that, you will notice that we spend more time in the pool than stores and resort destinations that want to crank out divers in a single weekend so that they can grab your cash and "teach you to dive."
If you want to really learn to dive, you have to put in the time to do it. The old saying PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT applies here! Humans can't survive very long underwater without complex equipment, so it makes sense to maximize your training in an environment conductive to learning so that you are as comfortable with your abilities, confident with your skills, and prepared as we can make you to really enjoy diving!
The course is divided into two parts.
- Classroom and pool training
- Regular Group Scuba Price: $159 This is our standard week-night class, typically offered through community Education programs.
- Executive Scuba Price: $219 Looking for more flexibility? Pick and choose the Saturday afternoons you want to learn to dive!
- Private Lessons: $279 The ultimate way to learn to dive! For one-on-one learning or for couples this is the way to go.
- Open Water Certification Dives
This is where you learn the basics of scuba diving, including dive theory and safe diving techniques. Then it's off to the pool where you will work with your instructor and practice the diving skills you need to know to help you become a good diver.
Since scuba diving is an adventure that takes you under water, you must be comfortable in the water, have a reasonable swimming ability, and be in good general health to enroll in the Open Water Diver class. Any questions regarding health, medical conditions, and/or medication must be discussed with your physician. Scuba instructors and the store owner can not give medical advice or waive any medical condition! If you have any health concerns, please print out this form (click here!) to look over and/or take to your doctor. Minimum age to earn your diver certification is 10 years.
Completion of Phase 1 qualifies you to complete your 4 open water certification dives with Innerspace or to get a referral if you plan to complete your training on a tropical vacation!
After completing the Open Water Diver Course, you are ready to become a certified diver! In this part of the class, we take small groups diving to select locations on Lake Superior or other lakes to make four dives over two days in the open-water environment. Here, under the close supervision of your instructor, you will demonstrate that you have learned and mastered the skills that you need to become a certified Open Water Diver.
