Underwater Recovery
Snowmobile go through the ice? Outboard fall off your boat? Loose a wedding ring? We might be able to help. We have the equipment and experienced divers available to do light recovery of items in 60' of water or less.
One thing recovery divers can count on is that when a person points to a spot and boldly states "It's RIGHT HERE" the item will most likely not be there! Physically, the size and weight of the item, bottom composition, water clarity, and human disturbance of the area can all play a role in whether an item is recovered or not. Also, it may be some time before the item is noticed missing. In the frantic panicky minutes when an item is first lost, marking the spot is usually the last thing on the person's mind. The better description you can give to the diver as to the location of the lost item, the greater your chances become that the diver will recover the item!
Because of the above considerations, successful recovery can not be guaranteed. The dive team however, still needs to be paid for thier time and equipment and payment prior to each dive is expected.
- Search and Recovery rates begin at $150 per hour (one hour minimum charge) and includes the efforts of two divers using basic recovery gear in excellent conditions. Ice, poor visibility, additional divers, depth in excess of 60' and specialized equipment required will tend to increase the price.
- The dive team's travel costs must be covered. Up to 25 miles from the store one-way is no additional charge. $.85 per mile one-way after that.
- Search and Recovery time begins once we begin searching for the lost object, whether we are on the surface locating the spot in a boat, walking on the ice looking for a hole, or in the water runing a search pattern. For billing purposes, the dive team determines when the search begins!
- Payment is required up-front for the first hour, including mileage, with no exceptions! If the object is located but not recovered within the first hour, arrangements will need to be worked out with the shore/standby-diver before. If the item is not located in the first hour, the dive team and the person paying the divers will need to discuss the best way to proceed.
- We are reasonable people and we are not out to take advantage of your misfortune but the gear we use is expensive and so was our training.
