Dive Trips

Prepare to get hooked on scuba diving the moment you slip below the water's surface into the peaceful silence of the undersea world. You'll finally understand what Jacques Cousteau was raving about all those years as you swim alongside graceful manta rays large enough to eclipse the sun's filtered rays, or when you come face to face with a hammerhead sizing you up (he wins). Fortunately, 70 percent of the world is covered in water, so there's never a shortage of great dive sites to feed your submarine cravings.

Upcoming Trips

Dates: Late August/Sept; Summer of 2012
Cost: $500; Nitrox and argon are available at additional cost.
Location: Isle Royale Mini-Trip, Lake Superior
Description: Join us for a 3 day/2 night wreck-reation filled dive trip! The waters of Isle Royale offer some of the best wreck diving in the world. Isle Royale National Park is a wilderness island located 20 miles from the Minnesota shore of Lake Superior. Beautiful but treacherous islands and shoals surround this 50 mile long island. These shoals have claimed about a dozen large ships. You can dive the America, the Cumberland, the Cox, and the Chisholm wrecks on this shorter duration trip. Food, nonalcoholic drinks, and air is included. Nitrox is available for an additional fee if you are certified.
Dive Conditions: As this is a "recreational trip" the diving depths range from 20 feet to 130 feet and all dives must be no decompression. The visibility ranges from 20 feet to 70 feet but generally averages 40 feet. The water temperature around Isle Royale ranges from the mid 30's to the mid 50's and will certainly be less than 45 degrees at depth on most dives. There is typically a 2-hour interval between dives while tanks are filled.

Equipment Requirements: A good 2-pc or premium 7+mm wetsuit is required (but dry suits are recommended) along with thick mitts/gloves, boots, and a 6+mm hood. All scuba equipment must be cold-water compatible, and a dive computer is recommended.

Diving Experience Requirements: The cold water, deeper depths and the potential of an overhead environment makes this challenging diving. All divers should have an Advanced Open Water Diver certification, and if using a dry suit should be certified in it's use, or have documented proof that you are competent in it's use. A nitrox certification is also recommended. At a minimum divers should have 20 open water dives with experience in shipwreck, deep, and cold water diving.

Deposit: A deposit of $150 is required to hold your spot, with the balance and any add-ons due the week prior to the trip.
